Oregon targeting Washington legacy quarterback in loaded 2028 recruiting class

After a Summer where the Oregon Ducks put the pedal to the metal on the recruiting trail, looking to build up the 2027 recruiting class, the attention is quickly shifting to the 2028 recruiting cycle. Given that official visit season has come to an end, the main priority for the staff now is starting to build relationships with some of the top players in the 2028 class as their recruitments come into focus.

The first priority when building any recruiting class is identifying and landing the best quarterback prospect available. Quarterbacks are the best resource possible for a coaching staff as they quickly attract other top playmakers to join them. As Oregon looks to start their 2028 class, the Ducks could be looking to deal a major blow to Washington in the hunt for a quarterback.

Oregon among top contenders for Washington legacy Titus Huard

Given how well Oregon has done developing the likes of Bo Nix and Dante Moore, the Ducks have quickly become a top school for quarterbacks. While the Ducks have been linked to several quarterbacks in the 2028 recruiting cycle, there's only one that would make Washington fans sick. Washington legacy Titus Huard is one of the top QBs in the 2028 cycle, and he told Rivals' Chad Simmons that the Ducks are among the schools in contention.

The Huard family has deep roots at Washington, which would likely make things awkward at family events if he landed at Oregon. Titus' father, Brock Huard, played Quarterback at Washington from 1995-98 before becoming a 3rd round pick in the NFL Draft. Damon Huard, Titus' uncle, also played QB for the Huskies and is the current Director of Community Relations and Fundraising at Washington. Cousin Sam Huard even started his career at Washington before entering the Transfer Portal.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Titus Huard is the 150th ranked player in the country, the 9th ranked quarterback in the class, and the 2nd ranked player out of Colorado.

Whether or not Titus Huard becomes the top target for the Ducks and eventually the quarterback who commits remains to be seen. The Ducks have been tied to several quarterbacks, and early on, Josiah Boyd appears to be the most likely to commit, but there's still so much time in this cycle for moves to unfold that Oregon will continue to cast a wide net until they feel they've found their guy.
