With a few recent struggles on the trail that are uncharacteristic to the Ducks in recent memory, Oregon fans should prepare for some good news.
June is one of the most important months on the recruiting calendar, as many of the highest ranked prospects in the nation make their rounds to schools across the country. As usual, Oregon is heavily involved with some of the most talented.
There are a littany of prospects coming to Track Town USA on the weekend of June 6-8, but there are a few that stand out. Visitors include:
- 5 star LB Tyler Atkinson
- 5 star EDGE Richard Wesley
- 5 star ATH Brandon Arrington
- 4 star WR Calvin Russell
Amongst many others...
5 star LB Tyler Atkinson
Atkinson is the number one linebacker in the nation, and holds a total of 44 offers. The Georgia native has received many predictions to stay in-state and play for Kirby Smart's Bulldogs, but Oregon is absolutely not out of this recruitment.
The linebacker has visited Oregon before, and would be a huge win for Lanning and his staff. Getting any top-end recruit from Georgia to leave the state is a hard enough task, let alone an elite linebacker.
Georgia, Auburn, and Ohio State are viewed as other top contenders for Atkinson.
5 star EDGE Richard Wesley
Oregon fans who have had the misfortune of following recruiting closely the last few months are very familiar with Wesley. Just weeks ago, Oregon landed a commitment from the elite edge rusher, who has received comparisons to former Duck Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Everything post-commitment felt very odd, as his Father had commented that his family was unaware of his decision leading up to it, and Wesley did not shut down his recruitment.
An official, on-campus visit is a great sign for the Ducks, and a great chance to get pole position in this recruitment yet again.
Wesley is ranked as the sixth player nationally and the number one edge rusher in the country, according to Rivals.
5 star ATH Brandon Arrington
Arrington is one of, if not the best player on the West coast in the class of 2026. A true "athlete," Arrington is both an elite defensive back and wide receiver.
He has been tied to Texas A&M, USC, Penn State, Alabama, and others. Oregon's ability to both recruit and develop defensive backs whether through the portal or high school ranks has been extremely impressive as of late. Defensive backs coach and co-defensive coordinator Chris Hampton won 247Sports' Recruiter of the Year award for his efforts in the class of 2025.
Should Arrington commit to the Ducks, it is up to the staff to determine where he will play, to state the obvious, but he would be a big get for either side of the ball. You can never have enough dynamic playmakers, especially one who could play both ways.
4 star WR Calvin Russell
Russell will be following up his April visit to Eugene with another this weekend. As pointed out by our Dale Bliss, Russell is of rare size, standing at 6 feet 5 inches. He would add some much needed size to an Oregon receiver room which is mostly small in stature, and projects to be once Kyler Kasper departs.
Calvin Russell is from Opa Locka, Florida, a state known for being an absolute factory for elite wide-outs.
A talented basketball player, Russell could potentially become the second member of Oregon's class of 2026 to commit as a multi-sport athlete, as current tight end commit Kendre Harison is a five-star football player, and four-star hooper.
Atkinson, Wesley, Arrington, and Russell headline a very, very, strong visitor list for the weekend of June 6-8. This weekend will prove crucial to the Ducks recruiting class, as they will have to make a strong impression in order to fix their recruiting woes of late.
Lanning traditionally does his best work from June, all the way through signing day. This is a major step working towards a class that many expect to finish in the top ten, a mark that feels like a standard for the program.
