Oregon's awful CFP loss to Indiana showcases uncomfortable truth on Dante Moore

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore might have to accept what is right in front of him after the Ducks' abysmal performance in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

Well, the Oregon Ducks' season comes to an end with everyone wanting more, once again.

While looking for revenge and a ticket to the National Championship game against the Indiana Hoosiers in the semifinal of the College Football Playoff, the Ducks were sent home with a bitter taste in their mouth.

A 56-22 loss in their back pockets, the Hoosiers were onto the title game, and Oregon was left thinking about everything that went wrong.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was undeniably left with the most to think about, entering the game as a projected second-overall NFL Draft pick, and exiting the game with people questioning his role as a starter.

Indiana forces Dante Moore to question his future

With an interception for a pick six, two forced fumbles, and a far-from-ideal all-around performance for the offense, Moore was a lifetime away from the top-2 quarterback he was supposed to be heading into April's NFL Draft.

His game against the Hoosiers, no matter how dominant Indiana's defense was, should have Moore putting a lot more weight into the idea of returning to Oregon for another season instead of declaring for the NFL Draft like everybody expected after the CFPs.

Moore didn't look ready for the league as the Ducks fell to the Hoosiers. In fact, he barely looked ready for the game he had prepared all season for.

He finished the game with just 285 passing yards, two touchdowns, one two-point conversion, and one interception through the air. He lost 28 yards on the ground after getting sacked three times throughout the matchup.

With Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza seemingly cementing his place as the No. 1 overall draft pick, the game also seemingly cemented Moore's place in Eugene for another year.

Mendoza finished the night with a resounding five touchdowns (even though he threw for fewer yards than Moore) and zero interceptions. He even gained 28 yards on the ground.

Oregon fans may have been excited for another top-five NFL quarterback before the game, but now, they're simply hoping their QB1 is ready for his next season in the Big Ten.
