After Dan Lanning and his Oregon Ducks get the 2024 Oregon football season underway by facing off against the Idaho Vandals in Autzen Stadium, the 2024 Oregon football schedule continues on with an intriguing non-conference matchup against the Boise State Broncos in week two.

Once again, the Ducks will be back in Autzen Stadium as they host a team from Idaho (shoutout to regional matchups, you know). And shoutout to primetime football games, you know? Because it’s great to see the Ducks take on an opponent who should provide a bit of an early test during a night game.

2024 Oregon Ducks schedule features interesting clash against Boise State Broncos

That said, if you’re not out on the West Coast, go ahead and start making up some coffee. Because for folks in the Midwest, the South, or the East Coast? This game is gonna be a bit of a late one for y’all (RIP to Pac-12 after dark games).

But, back to the topic at hand. The Boise State Broncos in Oregon’s second game of the 2024 Ducks football season. While not exactly the most difficult contest on Oregon’s schedule, the Boise State game offers the Ducks a decent step up in competition before they begin their journey into Big Ten football.

2024 Oregon football schedule: Ducks vs. Boise State

  • Who: Oregon Ducks vs. Boise State Broncos
  • What: Second game of the 2024 Oregon Ducks schedule
  • When: Saturday, September 7 at 7 p.m. PT
  • Where: Autzen Stadium in Eugene Oregon

After all, the Broncos just won the Mountain West Championship last season and provided a bit of a challenge for the UCLA Bruins during the LA Bowl. But, well, it’s worth pointing out that Boise State lost that LA Bowl by a score of 35-22 and the last time they faced a team that’s in the same weight class as this Oregon Ducks team was in last season’s kickoff game as the Broncos lost 56-19 to the Washington Huskies.

Theoretically speaking, that’s a result that should be replicated in this contest. There’s been a coaching change that’s since taken place, but not enough has really changed in Boise to justify a close game between where these two programs are right now.

Still, as Oregon navigates its transition into the Big Ten, games like this one against Boise State give the Ducks a chance to face regional foes and get prepared for more rigorous challenges down the line. This is still an important Oregon football game for those reasons.
