We are officially a quarter of the way through the 2024 Oregon football regular season and there has been quite a bit to reflect on.

For one, the Ducks are 3-0 and ranked No. 9 in the country and yet it feels like we still haven't seen the real Oregon yet. They beat Idaho by 10 in the opener and then Boise State by three in Week 2 before thrashing Oregon State 49-14 on the road in Week 3 heading into a bye. While the Week 3 version of Oregon is most likely the one we all expected to see before the year, consistency has been lacking.

One player, however, has been the true definition of consistency.

That player is Dillon Gabriel. The veteran quarterback and transfer from Oklahoma has been as close to perfect as a collegiate quarterback can be through three games, especially with a shaky offensive line. He has passed for 914 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions and he's completing an eye-popping 84 percent of his passes which would put him on pace to break the single-season college football record for completion percentage.

To begin the season, he was considered a strong Heisman candidate and he has only strengthened his case through three weeks.

In fact, Draft Kings has him at +900 to win the Heisman Trophy which means he has the fifth-best odds in college football. The only players ahead of him are Cam Ward (+550), Jaxson Dart (+700), Jalen Milroe (+700), and Nico Iamaleava (+850).

If Gabriel keeps playing at the high level that he has been, it's going to be very difficult for the four guys ahead of him to stay there. He may just be a top three Heisman contender by the end of October.
