Dakorien Moore’s commitment to the Oregon Ducks drew more than just a little bit of attention Thursday evening. It’s safe to say the college football world is abuzz with reactions as the nation’s top wide receiver prospect picked the Oregon Ducks over other powerhouse programs like the Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns, and LSU Tigers.
It was a pretty big deal. Not just for Dan Lanning and the 2025 Oregon football recruiting class, but also for the college football recruiting landscape in general.
Because the Oregon football program is making the move to the Big Ten and Lanning continues to elevate what the Oregon Ducks seem capable of, college football media members across the country took notice of this significant recruiting win for Lanning and his team.
Here’s what college football media members (and some fans with large followings) had to say about Moore’s commitment to join the 2025 Oregon football recruiting class:

It’s a 4th of July win for Oregon as No. 1 WR Dakorien Moore commits to the Ducks over LSU, Texas + Ohio State.

Per ESPN rankings, the former LSU commit is the program's highest-ranked pledge since Kayvon Thibodeaux as the top uncommitted prospect in the nation heads to Eugene. pic.twitter.com/cANoMEycrJ
This is a monumental win for the Ducks to be able to beat out traditional blue bloods like the Tigers, Longhorns, and Buckeyes. While Oregon is a prominent program nationally and has been for a while, those are national title winning programs. This sort of recruiting can really elevate the Oregon football team moving forward.
Boom‼️ Oregon continues to roll and lands No. 1 player in Texas in ‘25 class 5 ⭐️ Duncanville WR Dakorien Moore has commits to Oregon.

And yeah, let’s get a little patriotic and celebrate with fireworks a bit. This is a huge deal for the Ducks that they (and Moore) should absolutely have fun with.

Dan Lanning has been on a tear when it comes to recruiting as of late. Getting Moore to leave the Lone Star State and then head out to the West Coast (along with all of the other recent high profile commitments), this is pretty significant.
Another twist in the recruitment of Dakorien Moore.

Texas was considered the team to beat twice.
First, #LSU landed Moore.
Nearly a year later, the 5-star WR picks Oregon. https://t.co/ABUL9PWGAV

There’s a long way to signing day, but Lanning is thriving right now. If he can continue to build a landmark recruiting class (on top of having what should be a thrilling season), then the future will continue to look brighter and brighter for the folks in Autzen Stadium.
