Oregon football vs. Oregon State Beavers summer preview: Everything you need to know
By Ethan Lee
Even though the Oregon football team is making the move to the Big Ten without their in-state rival, the Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers are still set to meet this season. The third game on the 2024 Oregon football schedule features a tilt between Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks and Trent Bray’s Oregon State Beavers.
One of college football's longest lasting rivalries will get to continue on even with the college football landscape altering results of conference realignment. So, even though the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers are no longer in the same conference, we’ll still get to see them face off on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 12:30 p.m.
And of course, the Ducks will be hitting the road for this one. Surely the folks in Reser Stadium and Corvallis, Oregon are going to be welcoming to Lanning and the Ducks, right?
Here’s what you need to know about the game:
Oregon Ducks football vs. Oregon State Beavers: When and where
- Date: Saturday, September 14, 2024
- Time: 12:30 p.m. PT
- Location: Reser Stadium, Corvallis, Oregon
Game details: Oregon Ducks vs. Oregon State
This will be the first time these rivals will meet since Oregon's move to the Big Ten conference. And since Oregon State got left out, there’s going to be some hard feelings here. Still, it’s good to see that both schools are committed to continuing this historic rivalry.
For the Ducks, this game will be their first road trip of the 2024 Oregon football season, coming after two home games at Autzen Stadium in Eugene (the first game being against Idaho and then the second being against Boise State).
The rivalry, previously known as the “Civil War” is a rather significant part of Oregon football history for over a century. There have been a total of 127 meetings between the two teams and it’s one of the most-played rivalry matchups that college football can boast about.
Meet Oregon football 2024 opponent: Oregon State Beavers
The Oregon State Beavers enter the 2024 season being led by Trent Bray, who took over after Jonathan Smith left for greener pastures in East Lansing with the Michigan State Spartans. There’s a lot of uncertainty around the future of the Oregon State football program with the way college football is changing and it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds for the folks in Corvallis, Oregon.
Three Oregon State Beavers that Oregon football fans should know
While I think the Oregon State Beavers are still a work in progress, there are elements of the Beavers’ offense that fascinates me. Here are three Oregon State Beavers that Oregon football fans should be aware of heading into the 2024 season.
- Gevani McCoy is a redshirt junior quarterback who brings a wealth of experience to Corvallis as he transfers in from a solid career with the Idaho Vandals.
- Jam Griffin is an experienced running back who spent some time in the ACC and SEC. He’s got a chance to break through this year helping lead Oregon State’s offense.
- Darris Clemons is a talented wide receiver who transferred to Oregon State after spending a season with the Michigan Wolverines.
Oregon Ducks vs. Oregon State Beavers: 2024 summer preview, prediction
There’s a lot of new around the Oregon State Beavers and that program is still trying to figure out its path forward. Meanwhile, the Oregon Ducks also have their fair share of new faces, but Lanning has been able to establish plenty of stability for the Oregon football program. Given the talent disparity and the changes that Oregon State is going through right now, it’s fair to expect the Ducks to win this one by a rather large margin.
