Oregon football fans were probably none too pleased about the final score of the season opener being just 24-14. It felt like the game was in limbo for way too long against an Idaho team that had no business being within a score of the Ducks.

Eventually, Oregon scored the game-sealing touchdown and put the Vandals away, but no one was that impressed with a 24-14 win as the Ducks dropped to No. 7 in the polls. OK, so maybe four spots was a little drastic for one shaky season opener with dozens of new players trying to gel with each other, but the AP voters have spoken.

Although there was a lot of bad from the opener, there was some good on both sides of the ball like Dillon Gabriel and Tez Johnson on offense and Matayo Uiagalelei on defense.

Unlike his older brother, Matayo dominated in the opener and looks like one of the best players at his position in all of college football.

In fact, PFF graded Uiagalelei as the best edge rusher in the Big Ten last week and one of the best in the country, just missing out on the national team of the week.

This comes as no surprise to anyone who watched the season opener as Uiagalelei was getting into the backfield regularly and finished with three tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. He was causing problems for Idaho up front all afternoon and it led to just 217 total yards from the Vandals.

Oregon will look to bounce back this weekend against a tricky Boise State team and if the Ducks can get another showing like this from Uiagalelei, watch out.
