This Summer was an incredible run for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting trail as Dan Lanning and the coaching staff reeled in commitment after commitment. After every weekend of Official Visits, Oregon reeled in commitments, turning the Summer into a celebration of the program. The Ducks constantly landed top targets, helping vault the class into 4th in the national rankings.
Among the biggest commitments of the Summer was when the Ducks beat out in-state Michigan for elite wide receiver recruit Dakota Guerrant. For most of the cycle, Guerrant appeared to be the Ducks' top target regardless of position, making the commitment a major win. At the time of the commitment, Guerrant was a 4-star recruit ranked in the top 50, but that has since changed.
On Monday, Rivals updated their recruiting rankings while expanding from 18 5-star recruits to 23 total. Among the recruits to gain their 5th star was Dakota Guerrant as he jumped up the rankings to become the nation's 22nd ranked player.
Oregon fans will love the trait that turned Dakota Guerrant into a 5-star recruit
After Rivals' recruiting rankings update, the staff who evaluates the prospects broke down their decisions. Rivals' Director of Scouting and Rankings, Charles Power declared that Dakota Guerrant has the best ball skills of any wide receiver they've seen in this cycle, while also touching on all the physical tools he has.

When you look at Dakota Guerrant, just physically, he looks like he could instantly step into the lineup for the Ducks and make an impact. Over his final season of High School football, Dakota Guerrant is only going to continue to get better as he continues to develop physically as well as continuing to develop his skills.
From the moment you turn on the tape, Dakota Guerrant looks like an incredibly polished wide receiver who isn't just dominating with his physical tools. Guerrant runs impressive routes for his age while he has natural hands to go with his speed and ability to make multiple defenders miss with the ball in his hands.
The best case for Dakota Guerrant making a major impact as a freshman is the ball skills Rivals took note of, along with the physical tools. While Guerrant will have to adjust to the college game, he's a rare talent who can change the game the moment he touches the football.
When you look ahead to Oregon's potential wide receiver room in 2027, the future couldn't be brighter for the Ducks. Dakorien Moore will be heading into his Junior season while Gatlin Bair and Jalen Lott will have some experience, and should be ready to step into bigger roles in the offense. Add in the elite talents of Dakota Guerrant and Xavier Sabb along with a receiver with great tools in Malachi Garlington and the room will be loaded.
Ross Douglas has been incredible as a recruiter for the Ducks, and if he continues to recruit at this level, Oregon will constantly field one of the Nation's best offenses. The quarterback play at Oregon has been incredible, but with the level of playmakers the staff keeps bringing in, the offense won't need Superman at offense to succeed.
