Recruiting expert gives insight on some of Oregon's biggest potential recruits

Oregon are in a position to make the class of 2026 their first number one overall class in program history. In order to do so, they will have to finish on the progress they have started on some of their highest rated recruits.

ON3 Sport's Steve Wiltfong is one of the most accurate, respected recruiting insiders from a national perspective. On "Wiltfong Whiparound" he shared some important news regarding multiple Oregon targets.

Jackson Cantwell - Offensive Tackle

Rated as a consensus five-star recruit, Cantwell is the best offensive tackle in the nation. The Missouri native has his choice of just about every school in the country.

Cantwell has an official visit planned for this weekend, April 26-27, just prior to his planned commitment date of April 30. The Ducks will certainly be on the table for the elite offensive tackle.

Wiltfong said that Cantwell has heavy interest in both Georgia and Miami as well. Miami is the perceived leader, according to Wiltfong.

The Miami coaching staff, including former Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal, and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal had an incredibly successful run of offensive linemen while with Oregon, something that they are pointing to in their recruitment of Cantwell.

While the Hurricanes are "surging" according to Wiltfong, he also said that Jackson Cantwell's "favorite head coach is Dan Lanning," and that Lanning has formed a relationship with Cantwell better than anyone else.

Elbert Hill - Cornerback

Stop me if you've heard this before -- Oregon goes into the state of Ohio and steals a defensive back recruit. The Ducks did just that with highly-ranked safety Trey McNutt in the class of 2025, and look to do the same with the number four corner in the nation (ON3), Elbert Hill.

Hill is the highest rated recruit in the state of Ohio, and has developed a good relationship with Dan Lanning and his staff. Wiltfong said that "Oregon has been in the lead group for a long time... (Elbert Hill) has always been high on Oregon."

Kayden Dixon-Wyatt - Wide Receiver

A "ping pong ball" recruitment, according to Wiltfong, Kayden Dixon-Wyatt has been going back and forth between Oregon, USC and Ohio State throughout his recruitment. He is one of the highest rated wide receiver recruits in the class of 2025, coming out of Mater Dei high school in California.

Despite former wide receivers coach Junior Adams leaving the program to join the Dallas Cowboys' staff, Oregon has not missed a beat in the recruitment of Dixon-Wyatt. New receivers coach Ross Douglas has been "building a fast relationship" with Dixon-Wyatt, and has maintained the positive momentum in his recruitment.

Should the four-star receiver commit to the Ducks, he would join a long list of former Mater Dei talent currently on the Ducks. Defensive lineman Aydin Breland, running back Jordon Davidson, linebacker Nasir Wyatt, and wide receiver Jack Ressler are just a few Mater Dei alums who now call Eugene home.

As three of the highest rated recruits on Oregon's board, they can determine where this class lands on a national ranking. Cantwell's recruitment could have a "domino effect" on the rest of the class, notably with Jared Curtis, the five-star quarterback set to commit to either Georgia or Oregon on May 5.
