A 10.4 sprinter is in the Top 1200 in the world, but at 10.15 in the 100 meters, Gatlin Bair ran one of the fastest 100 meters in prep track history.
Now he's officially an Oregon Duck wide receiver after completing his religious mission and signing with the team in the first hours of the Early Signing Period.
Even by Oregon standards with a long tradition of blazing speed, Bair is historically fast. He ranks right up there with Patrick Johnson and Samie Parker, three-tenths faster than any recorded time by De'Anthony Thomas, LaMichael James, Kenjon Barner, Dakorien Moore, Evan Stewart or Malik Benson.
Bair more than a track star in pads
What's exciting also is in addition to being an accomplished prep track star Bair is a pure football player. He runs routes. He's physical. He has good hands and toughness.
At Kimberly High School in Kimberly, Idaho Bair, 6-3, 195 with a vertical jump of 42 inches and a 405-pound squat, broke tackles, made contested catches and showed the ability to drive tackles off the line and break to the sideline. He's more than just a sprinter in pads.
He beat press coverage. He went over the middle. He was even a hard-hitting linebacker.
As a junior at Burley High School in 2022 the Gem State phenom caught 73 passes for 1,073 yards and 18 touchdowns, very similar numbers to Kenyon Sadiq, another freak athlete Oregon snatched from under the noses of the Boise State Broncos.
He remained committed to the Webfoots through his mission, which demonstrates maturity. His brother Peyton is the 2025 NCAA Decathlon Champion on the Oregon track team.
Another benefit of having Bair on the roster is that he provides overload training for the Oregon secondary. In the Oregon training and conditioning program he could reach 6-3, 210, a matchup challenge that can prepare teammates for elite wideouts around college football like Jeremiah Smith and Elijah Surratt.
