The Dillon Gabriel era at the University of Oregon has come and gone. The former Oklahoma Sooners (and former UCF Knights) quarterback took over the Ducks program with a vengeance and led the team to a No. 1 ranking in the nation.
Now, as Gabriel heads to the 2025 NFL Draft, the Oregon Ducks are looking to their next man up to take the reigns of the offense. So, who will be the Oregon quarterback leading the Ducks into their second season in the Big Ten?
Get to know Oregon quarterback Dante Moore
Dante Moore is expected to be the next QB1 of the Ducks. Moore transferred to Oregon after spending just one season with the UCLA Bruins. Now, after playing as the understudy during Gabriel's season with the Ducks, it's Moore's time to shine.
During his first season for Oregon, Moore appeared in just four games throughout the 2024 season but completed seven of his eight pass attempts (87.5 percent) for 49 yards and rushed for 6 yards on the ground.
While at UCLA, Moore became the Bruins' starting quarterback as a freshman and completed 114 passes for 1,610 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air. However, interceptions were an issue for the young quarterback. He threw nine interceptions throughout the 2023 season and with a struggling offensive line, was sacked an abysmal 25 times.
Now, with a dominant offensive line in front of him and elite receivers downfield, Moore is primed to lead Oregon to yet another top-tier season and, hopefully, another appearance in the College Football Playoffs.
Who are the other quarterbacks at Oregon?
Austin Novosad (redshirt sophomore) saw a few snaps during the 2023 season as head coach Dan Lanning rested Gabriel and worked to maintain Moore's redshirt eligibility. Moore and Novosad were most notably joined by four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr. ahead of the 2025 season.
Luke Moga is another quarterback on the Ducks' roster who utilized his redshirt during his freshman season (2024). Brock Thomas, a Eugene native, is another redshirt sophomore on the Oregon roster who could see an increase in playing time during the 2025 season.
