With Indiana loss, Ducks' possible opponents in the Big Ten title game remain the same
By Sam Fariss
The Oregon Ducks are going to the 2024 Big Ten Championship game, even if they go scoreless against Washington in Week 14. However, the Ducks' opponent in the conference title game has yet to be determined even after the Ohio State Buckeyes clobbered the Indiana Hoosiers.
Ohio State has now knocked off every Big Ten opponent it has faced, other than Oregon, including the other teams in the top-four spots in the conference (Indiana and Penn State).
However, Oregon defeated the Buckeyes earlier this season and will not play Penn State or Indiana during the regular season. Not to mention, the Hoosiers and the Nittany Lions won't have a head-to-head matchup this year.
Even though the Ducks defeated the Buckeyes, Ohio State's wins over the Nittany Lions and Hoosiers bring the team back into contention for the conference game. The moral of the story, for the Big Ten title matchup, is that (almost) everything hangs in the balance during Week 14.
Important Week 14 Big Ten matchups:
- Oregon vs. Washington –– Win or lose, Oregon advances to Big Ten Championship
- Ohio State vs. Michigan –– If OSU loses, and Indiana wins, OSU is knocked out of the Big Ten Championship
- Penn State vs. Maryland –– If Penn State loses, the Nittany Lions are knocked out of the Big Ten Championship
- Indiana vs. Purdue –– If Indiana wins and both Penn State and Ohio State lose, Indiana advances to the Big Ten Championship
So, even with the results of the Week 13 games, Oregon's opponent in its first-ever Big Ten Championship game is entirely up in the air as the Ducks and the rest of the conference head into Week 14.
The No. 1 Oregon Ducks and unranked Washington Huskies are scheduled to play on Nov. 30 – the kick off time has yet to be announced.
