Oregon Ducks Again Sweep Pac-12 Player of the Week Honors for Softball

Following a three game sweep of Arizona State at Howe Field over the weekend, the Ducks first sweep of the Sun Devils since 1989 and first series win since 2005, Starting Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins and Offensive Starter Janelle Lindvall again swept the Pac-12 Awards for Player of the Week in their respective categories.

Hawkins was back to her old self following a loss last week at UCLA with a two hit shutout on Friday and a series clinching 4-3 win on Sunday, sweeping the Sun Devils and earning two wins over the weekend. It marked the eighth shutout for Hawkins this season. She also threw a complete game on Sunday and after allowing a home run in the seventh inning to allow Arizona State back in the game she came out with the win following a strikeout and a flyout. This is the third time this season that Hawkins was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week.

Janelle Lindvall also had an impressive weekend for the Oregon Ducks. She now leads the team with thirty-six RBI’s on the season after a big weekend that saw a grand slam among her five hits in the series. She also had six RBI’s and scored three runs against Arizona State. She was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Oregon takes on Portland State in a doubleheader on Tuesday(4pm, 6pm PT) before continuing their road trip to Stanford this weekend for three games.
