While the Oregon Ducks are not having a National Championship kind of season, recognition for accomplishments is still a big part of the year. One player who is having a phenomenal 2015 after a record setting 2014 is Sophomore Running Back Royce Freeman who was named to the Semifinalist list of the Doak Walker Award on Wednesday. The Doak Walker Award is given to the best running back in College Football. Freeman has had a solid season for the Oregon Ducks and currently leads the Pac-12 Conference in rushing.

Freeman has just under 1400 yards on the season and currently sits in fifth place nationally at 1392 yards on the year. Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott, Alabama’s Travis Henry and LSU’s Leonard Fournette are also finalists for the Doak Walker Award and are currently ahead of Freeman for the top rusher in the country. The Oregon Ducks have two games remaining in the regular season this weekend against the USC Trojans and next Friday hosting Oregon State in the annual Civil War between Oregon and the Oregon State Beavers. So Freeman has some time to impress and possibly make up some ground in the competition.

Freeman is joined by Christian McCaffrey from the Pac-12 on the list of finalists in 2015. The list will be narrowed down to three finalists next weekend and the winner will be announced on the annual College Football Rewards show on ESPN on December 10th.
