College Basketball season is getting closer and the Oregon Ducks schedule is nearly set. According to GoDucks.com, the season will begin with what seems to be an annual Exhibition game against cross city Northwest Christian University led by former Oregon player Luke Walton. The 2016-17 season gets underway when Army visits Matthew Knight Arena on Friday, November 11th.
Following the game with Army, the Ducks hit the road for a game against Baylor on Tuesday, November 15th. Oregon then returns to MKA to take on Valparaiso for the second straight season at home on Thursday, November 17th before heading to Hawaii for the Maui Jim Invitational.
Other teams in Lahaina for the Tournament include Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Georgetown. The Ducks face the Hoyas for their first game. Following the Tournament, Oregon returns home for four of five games at Matthew Knight Arena against Boise State, Alabama and Montana. Oregon then heads up I-5 to the Moda Center to take on UNLV before closing out the home Non-Conference slate against Fresno State on December 20th.
Altman may not be finished with this schedule according to the U of O. There are two available spots still open for Non-Conference opponents. When all is said and done, the Ducks could have a total of eight games in the friendly confines of Matthew Knight Arena to start the season.
Oregon returns four of the top five scorers from last season and will look to make another push for the NCAA Tournament. Of course starting the season with a 28 game home winning streak isn’t a bad thing either.
