Unger is still recovering from a torn patellar tendon suffered in 2015 according to NBCSports. The Saints can now start working on extending Quarterback Drew Brees. The move will boost his salary by several million dollars, going from $4 million to roughly $7 million over the next three years.
Selected in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft by Seattle, he was traded to the Saints last year. The deal sent Tight End Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks. He started all 16 games for the New Orleans Saints last year and played consistently throughout the season before the injury.
According to Bleacher Report, Max Unger is a good player to build around. He has garnered the respect of Coaches and Teammates alike. Despite going 7-9 last season, Unger is a positive impact player on the field who has been to two Pro Bowls in his career.
