Royce Freeman Talks Football and Life In Piece For The Players’ Tribune

The Oregon Ducks will look to their Starting Running Back to be more vocal this year, and he admits that it is not his nature in a recent piece he wrote for The Players’ Tribune. Freeman opens up about his home life before football and talks about how all he knew about Oregon back then was there were a lot of trees.
As a kid, he did not realize his football potential until a 60 yard kickoff return changed his frame of mind. He was too big for the Junior Varsity and had to move up to the Varsity team at Imperial High School where he made a statement or two before being recruited for College.

The first school to come calling wasn’t Oregon, but Washington. Eventually they came calling. Freeman offers some great insight into his personal life and says that Eugene is a good fit for him. He watched players several years ago that now he is chasing. LaMichael James could see his Rushing Record fall this year to Freeman.
The 2016 season gets going on Saturday against UC Davis. KIckoff is set for 2pm Pacific Time.
