Oregon Volleyball: UCLA Presents Big Road Challenge For Ducks

The Oregon Ducks visit the Bay Area this weekend to take on UCLA and USC.

Both the Ducks and Bruins have won four of their last five games, but UCLA has a win over Oregon in Eugene from earlier this season. Hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament is still in the cards for the Oregon Ducks, but they will likely need to finish the regular season with more wins than losses.

On the road this season, Oregon is a perfect 7-0 entering the weekend. They have become seasoned road warriors. Lindsey Vander Weide has become a leader over the last month. She averages over 4 points a set in Conference play, best on the team and is hitting at a .281 and is pushing near 4 kills per set, quite the clip in the Pac-12.

Oregon Ducks Freshman Ronika Stone is hitting at a .324 clip during Pac-12 play and has set a solid foundation for the future. Both Stone and Vander Weide will be keys this weekend for the Oregon Ducks to get W’s in two tough places to play.

UCLA comes in to the match looking for the season sweep of the Ducks. The Bruins are ranked 9th in the country. The Pac-12 has four teams ranked this week including Oregon at 19 and UCLA at 9.

Reilly Buechler is one to watch for the Bruins. She broke 1000 career kills earlier this month. Jordan Anderson is a kill specialist and had her 20th match with double figures in the category last Saturday against the Stanford Cardinal. The Bruins rank second in the Pac-12 in opponent hitting so Oregon will need to be on the best blocking game.

First serve between the Oregon Ducks and UCLA Bruins is set for 7pm Pacific Time on Friday.
