The Oregon Ducks brought a different game on Sunday afternoon against Portland State following two losses last week in New York against Michigan and VCU in the Legends Classic. Oregon was off to a good start. The Ducks hit eight of seventeen three point shots in the first half and put together a 27-1 run early in the game following a slow start to pretty much put it away. However it was not the Offense that left people talking, it was the Defense. Oregon won 81-59.

Playing again without Dwayne Benjamin the Defense had to step up and they did. Jordan Brooks had a career high six blocks in the game and the Oregon Ducks had twelve in sixty minutes against Portland State. Jalil Abdul-Bassit and Joseph Young lead the team in scoring with nineteen points each and Bell had ten points and ten rebounds to go along with his big defensive effort. Young found a way out of his slump the last two games and the Ducks will need to lean on that experience, for now.

The Oregon Ducks needed a solid win. Looking at the road ahead it does not get any easier facing Illinois from the Big Ten and Mississippi. Oregon gets another warmup against Concordia on Wednesday night before hosting Mississippi on Sunday at 1pm. The game Sunday will be on Fox Sports 1.
