Cal State Northridge started the game hot hitting three pointers to build a 16-9 lead, but Senior Joseph Young hit several three pointers in a row to give Oregon the lead 26-22. Dana Altman’s team would not look back. Chandler entered the game toward the end of the first half and made his presence felt. He started the second half scoring nine straight points for Oregon. Joseph Young had another solid game as well.
Young had eighteen points. Freshman Dillon Brooks, who had a big game at Illinois added twelve, and on the Defensive End Freshman Dwayne Benjamin had ten rebounds.
"“(Chandler) gave us a big lift, did a good job. Posted up strong; guys did a good job looking for him. He’s a presence in there. For the first time out, and not having much live action at all in practice, it was a good first outing.”Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman on Chandler"
Chandler’s presence was huge for Oregon and he should play a key role moving forward. Part of his abscense was due to an injury, as well as an issue that was resolved by sitting out. The issue was from benefits he received, which the NCAA does not allow.
Oregon will play the second of seven straight home games when they host Delaware State on Saturday. (Noon, Pac-12 Networks)
