The Oregon Ducks played their first true road test of the season on Thursday night against Washington State and a familiar foe, their former coach. No one expected the shootout that turned out to be the highest scoring game in the history of the series between the Cougars and Ducks going back to 1908.

Three Washington State players were not only in double figures, but had over twenty points on the night. Josh Hawkinson(26), Ike Iroegbu(20) and Davonte Lacy(24) gave Dana Altman and Oregon all they could handle. Joseph Young led all scorers on the night with thirty two. The game was tied at 94 at the end of regulation and headed to overtime where the Cougars exploded for fourteen points to defeat Oregon. For Kent, it was a signature win.

Before Thursday the Oregon Ducks owned the Cougars and and defeated them seven straight times. The area that cost Oregon the game was again their Defense, which has been shaky all season. The Cougars had too many easy baskets and were able to stay in the game with Oregon. The 108 points given up in the loss were the third most in the history of Oregon Basketball.

Last season Washington State finished the season with three conference wins. Kent now has his team in prime position with a 3-1 Pac-12 record. Oregon falls to 2-2 in the Conference and 12-5 overall. The Ducks continue theor two game road trip and face Washington on Sunday at 8:30pm Pacific Time on ESPNU.
