Former Philadelphia QB Says Eagles Should Do ‘Whatever It Takes’ To Get Mariota

Over the last several months the conversation about Marcus Mariota entering the NFL Draft and possibly being draftd by the Philadelphia Eagles has been swirling. Now that Mariota has made it official that he is leaving the U of O, the discussion has fired up again. Now, some big time personalities and former athletes are chiming in, including Former Eagles Quarterback Randall Cunningham who spoke recently with Comcast in Philadelphia.

Cunningham said that Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles ‘should do whatever it takes’ to get the talented Heisman Trophy Winner. As it stands the Eagles will have the twentieth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and would have some maneuvering to do to get into even the higher end of the Top ten for the chance to get Mariota.

According to some Draft boards, the former potential top pick has fallen, but not far from the top spot being replaced by Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston. He will still likely be among the top two quarterbacks drafted in May. Throughout his career at Oregon Mariota has been a threat with both his legs and his arm which makes him an attractive pick for a team looking to shift their style of offense or plug a player like Mariota into the current system.

Kelly’s Offense is perfect since it somewhat mirror’s his Offensive Genius when he was at the University of Oregon.

The 2015 NFL Draft is still several months away with plenty of time to continue to fuel the rumors of what and where Mariota will end up. Stay tuned for updates on the possibilities. As it stands, Philadelphia makes the most sense, but can Kelly pull of what needs to happen to get him there? Time will tell.
