Oregon Ducks Drop Washington State, Young and Benjamin Combine for 54 Points
The Oregon Ducks entering the game were third in the Pac-12 Conference and would have to play without Freshman Jordan Bell who was suspended for the game following an altercation with Eugene Police. The game would be high on emotion with former Coach Ernie Kent bringing his new team in Washington State to face the Ducks. Just a few weeks ago Oregon lost to Washington State on the road in overtime. Since then Oregon has won five of six games.

Washington State would win the opening tipoff and get Oregon to foul early with Elgin Cook picking up a foul. Oregon would take an 8-0 lead on shots frin Dwayne Benjamin and Dillon Brooks as the Cougars would take a timeout. Oregon started by shooting six of nine from the floor and taking a 14-2 lead on Washington State. A three pointer from Elgin Cook made it seven for ten and gave the Ducks a fifteen point lead. The run would continue for Oregon.
Before the midway point of the first half Oregon was up 23-4 shooting sixty percent from the floor and fifty percent from beyond the arc. Davonte Lacy would find himself in foul trouble early for Washington State and Oregon continued to build their lead. The game a few weeks ago against the Cougars was anything but Defensive with the Ducks giving up the third most points in their history in a 108-99 overtime loss. That would not be the story today.
The Oregon Defense, without Bell created six turnovers and had four steals in the first half against the Cougars. Joseph Young would lead all scorer at the half with nineteen points. The Ducks would take a 52-28 lead into the break.

The second half would start with Washington State and Oregon exchanging several baskets as the Ducks extended their lead to 61-33. Casey Benson and Ahmaad Rorie would see extended time in the second half as the Ducks would continue to play defense and add another three steals to their first half total of seven midway through the second half. With seven minutes left Washington State was forcing shots that would not fall and the Ducks pull out a big win over the Cougars at home.
Young finished the game with twenty nine points and ten rebounds. Benjamin had twenty-five, Ahmaad Rorie and Dillon Brooks both had nine points. The final score was 95-72.“
Oregon heads to the Bay Area to take on USC and UCLA this week, The Trojans game is Wednesday(6pm PT ESPN2), UCLA takes on Oregon and will look to avenge the loss from a few weeks ago in Eugene on Saturday at Noon.
