Oregon Softball Edges Out Win vs North Carolina in Kajikawa Classic
The Oregon Ducks Softball team is 4-0 after starting the season with dominant starting pitching from Karissa Hovinga and Cheridan Hawkins and timely early season hitting from Janie Takeda and Geri Ann Glasco. New combers on this team came ready to play and have a veteran presence early in the season and the Ducks faced their toughest test against North Carolina on Saturday night.

Oregon jumped out to a 7-0 lead before North Carolina plated five runs to come within two of the Ducks and Head Coach Mike White. In the bottom of the sixth the Ducks picked up an insurance run with two outs. Jenna Lilley was the player of the game for Oregon against the Tar Heels. She scored a run in every inning that Oregon scored. The team is off to a solid start with six home runs in four games.
Oregon has outscored their opponents 33-5 this season and the Tar Heels were the first opponent to score against the Ducks this season according to GoDucks.com
Oregon closes out the Kajikawa Classic on Sunday with two games against Wisconsin(10am PT) and Nevada at Noon. Oregon continues the road trip next week in Texas to take on Houston, Sam Houston State and Texas A&M. Oregon will begin their home season on Friday March 13th hosting Pac-12 foe Oregon State at Howe Field.
