Chase Powers Oregon Ducks In Sweep of St John’s
Oregon defeated the St John’s Red Storm 8-6 on Sunday afternoon in Eugene for a series sweep continuing their home dominance this season. George Horton’s team is 13-2 this season thanks in big part to pitching. Cole Harber has been stellar in relief of Cole Irvin. Irvin is rebuilding his arm strength following Tommy John Surgery this past offseason. Harber has thrown twenty scoreless innings this season.

The Pac-12 season is not too far away and
says Harber may eventually work himself into the rotation, and I agree with him. He threw six of those scoreless inning last week against New Mexico State in a win that also saw Shaun Chase hit a solo home run. Chase also had a big role in the finale on Sunday against St. John’s going three for four with a triple and a homerun. Chase hit .455 on the weekend after starting the series with a .156 average.
Closer Garrett Cleavinger had a rough eighth inning but came back in the ninth to close the door on the Red Storm giving the Ducks the three game sweep. The Oregon Ducks now have a quick turnaround and face San Francisco this week at PK Park for a two game series that begins on Tuesday at 6pm Pacific Time.
