Oregon Softball Hosts First Home Series of 2015 vs Oregon State

The Oregon Ducks Softball team will play their first home games of the 2015 season starting on Friday against Oregon State. The season started on the road last month with mostly wins for the second ranked team in the country. The Ducks fell a few times.

Oregon had four losses in the first month of the season, two to a top ranked Florida team, and one to a Baylor team that was ranked seventh. In winning the rest of their non-conference games the Ducks have maintained the number two position in the rankings in the hopes of taking care of business during Pac-12 play for a possible rematch with Florida in the NCAA Tournament.

First up, a Civil War Matchup and three game series with Oregon State starting on Friday. The Beavers enter the game with six losses and unranked to start Pac-12 play. Oregon State is batting .332 at a team and are coming off a 3-1 week in Hawaii with a loss to the home team. OSU saw an eight game winning streak snapped in the loss.

Oregon enters the Pac-12 season holding opponents to a .193 hitting average, leading the Conference. Oregon Starter Cheridan Hawkins enters ranking second in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings with 2.6 and sixth in ERA with a .45 average. She also leads the nation with six saves.

Oregon and Oregon State begin their three game series on Friday at 4pm Pacific Time. Saturday and Sunday’s games will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks and will start at 2pm on Saturday and 11am Sunday.
