Former Oregon RB Blount Suspended For One Game For Substance Abuse

According to NFL.com, former Oregon Ducks Running Back LeGarrette Blount has been suspended for the first game of the 2015 season for violating the NFL Substance Abuse Policy. Blount spent last season with both the Pittsburgh Steelers and with the New England Patriots where he helped the team win the Super Bowl.

Blount, in his sixth year in the league has had his off the field issues, but on the field has made a big statement as a guy who can be dependable with the football and get the yards when needed. The article continues that without Blount in the backfield to start the season, New England may have some issues with losses of key players Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen in the backfield. It is expected that the team will likely pickup a running back in the NFL Draft that begins at the end of the month.

Blount will be eligible to practice with the team and be in training camp. If he makes the team for 2015 it will be his third season playing in New England.

In his career Blount has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers and twice with the New England Patriots. He has rushed for over thirty-two hundred yards in his NFL career and scored twenty-five touchdowns.
