2015 NFL Draft: Tennessee Titans Select Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota

With the second overall pick the Tennessee Titans selected former Oregon Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft on Thursday night. After months of speculation and quite the week of rumors surrounding the former Duck, the Titans pulled the trigger on the Heisman Trophy winner.

Earlier in the day it was rumored that the Philadelphia Eagles were looking to make a climb into the top ten of the first round to select Mariota, which would have reunited him with his former coach in Chip Kelly. Even the Cleveland Browns made a run at trying to get the former Oregon signal caller by offering draft picks. He spent the day in Hawaii with surrounded by family and friends while the announcement was made.

Tennessee may not realize it, but they will likely have a new fan base for years to come as many will watch the former Oregon product work to be become a successful player in the National Football League. More on the draft as the weekend continues as AutzenZoo will follow all of the Oregon picks.

In Mariota, the Titans have signed one of the top players in the country the last three seasons. He led Oregon to thirty-six wins including a Rose Bowl win against Florida State in 2014, besting Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston on the National Stage. In 2011 he was the team’s number three quarterback and now he owns Pac-12 and Oregon records across the board.
