Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson could be headed for Florida State to fill the void left by Jaimis Winston, according to reports. If this happens Florida State would join Oregon it’s counterpart in the College Football Playoff Semifinals at the Rose Bowl in replacing their departing Heisman Trophy winning QB with a senior transfer.

The similarities don’t end there, both programs have a redshirt junior that were both expected to be handed the keys this year, but in Oregon Vernon Adams has already signed financial aid paperwork and is expected to be on campus in June. Both Jeff Lockie for the Ducks Sean Maguire have been limited in work sitting behind legends at their schools. The difference being that Maguire filled in for a suspended Winston in a win against Clemson beating the Tigers in overtime.
After being benched in favor of his back-up for the bowl game Golson decided to transfer rather than return to South Bend to compete for his starting spot in 2015. His time at Notre Dame was interesting, while eligible he played really well for the Fighting Irish piling up yards and touchdown while limiting damage with regards to turnovers. Notre Dame has limited his options with regards to transferring not wanting to have to face him next year.
Who Will Be A Bigger Impact: Vernon Adams for Oregon or Everett Golson for Florida State?

I think without a doubt Golson will be a bigger impact to Florida State than Adams to Oregon. Several reasons lead me to that belief, starting with the fact that he’s faced big teams on the road. There won’t be a stadium or crowd that will intimidate Golson. Maybe this is true of Adams too, but we haven’t seen that from him yet. No Washington and Oregon State are not the types of big stadiums I’m talking about. Second, I think Golson will be forced to do more for Florida State than Adams.

This isn’t at all a knock on Adams but rather a tip of the cap to the talent difference between Florida State and Oregon at the skill positions. Oregon is loaded at the skill positions. Speed, power, and depth at receiver and running back. Florida State has amazing athletes but no where near the depth or volume that Oregon does. So for Florida State to make another run at the College Football Playoff this year, Golson will have to do more than Adams to make a similar return.
