The start was not what the Oregon Ducks intended, but the finish was pretty good. Friday was the opener of a three game series at Salt Lake City against the Utah Utes. The home team was off to an early 2-0 lead, but the Ducks would rally to tie the game in the top of the sixth. The bottom of the frame could have spelled doom for the Ducks as an intentional walk turned into a passed ball allowing a run to score and Utah to take a one run lead. The score remained that way till the top of the ninth.

Oregon was ready to battle. Mitchell Tolman came through with an RBI double to tie the game and two wild pitches in the inning would lead to Oregon getting ahead on the scoreboard and not looking back. Mark Karaviotis, Kyle Kasser and Tolman were all keys to the ninth inning rally which put six runs on the board for the Oregon Ducks.  George Horton saw his team win the game 8-3.

The Ducks are now on a six game winning streak, taking eight of their last ten games. Freshman David Peterson takes the mound on Saturday and will look help tack on another win at this key point in the season where wins mean everything for a team looking to make the NCAA Tournament.

First pitch on Saturday is set for 1pm, the three game series wraps up on Sunday at 10am Pacific Time. Both games are on the Pac-12 Networks.
