Tennessee Quarterback Marcus Mariota Remains Focused as Titans Minicamp Ends
For former Oregon Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota, the whirlwind that began with the NFL Draft leading through thefirst series of mini-camps with the Tennessee Titans comes to an end on Thursday. For some that would mean rest and relaxation and perhaps a vacation, but the chance that Mariota will take some official time off from the game of football is pretty small.

The second overall pick from the 2015 NFL Draft could take some time to relax in his home state of Hawaii, and he may, but the start of the 2015 NFL season is not too far away, and the first game of the year, that could potentially see Mariota leading the Titans is a big one. Tennessee will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and we could see a 2014 Rose Bowl rematch with Mariota taking on former Florida State Quarterback Jamies Winston, the number one overall draft pick in the NFL Draft in May.
According to the Tennessean, Mariota has already spent some downtime at home, and is looking to plan so pre-training camp workouts with his fellow wideouts, one even joked he could take them all to Hawaii to workout before Training Camp officially begins on July 30th.
Mariota is getting praise from his head coach Ken Whisenhunt on his work ethic who told the Tennessean, “”Just based on what I’ve seen, he’ll still be working,” Whisenhunt said. “One of the big benefits to all these reps he’s gotten is having it on his iPad and going back through them, especially (dealing with) things like protection, line checks and things like that. That’s really good for him and he likes doing that.”
Given the opportunity Mariota said he thought he was doing well in the Tennessee system and he is speaking like a Starter, “”You don’t want to be cold coming into training camp and not throw during the offseason. So I’m going to try to go home (to Hawaii), try to work out a little bit here or there and then make sure my arm is still ready to go.”
The Titans wrap up training camp and visit the Atlanta Falcons in the Preseason on August 14th. The regular season begins with a trip to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers on September 13th.
