Former Oregon Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota has had quite a year. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner can add another award to his trophy case. This one from winning the ESPY Award for Best Male College Athlete on Wednesday night. Mariota led the Oregon Ducks to the National Championship in 2015 and over three seasons at Oregon was a human highlight reel on the field. His passing percentage made him one of the elite Quarterbacks in the Pac-12 Conference as he completed over sixty percent of his passes.
In April, he was the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans and made it through the first round of Rookie and Mini camps with several members of the Titans raving about his passing ability.
Marcus Mariota was not in attendance at the ESPY’s, but like the NFL Draft decided to stay out of the limelight and remained home to spend time with family and get ready for NFL Training Camp starting at the end of the month. Mariota’s strong performance early in camp could give him a nice boost entering his first Training Camp in the hopes of making the Titans roster and possibly pushing to become the team’s starting quarterback.
