The Philadephia Eagles played their second game of the NFL Preseason last night against the Baltimore Ravens and former Oregon Ducks were again on display. Roster moves will have to be made over the next few weeks and one player in particular is working pretty hard and making a statement when it counts. Former Oregon Running Back Kenjon Barner had his second punt return for a touchdown on Sunday against the Ravens, this one for sixty-eight yards. He had a ninety-three yard return last week against the Indianapolis Colts. The score made it 24-0 as the Eagles went on to put up over seven-hundred yards of Offense and completed ten of sixteen third down attempts.
On the receiving end several other former Oregon players made some plays, including Wide Receiver Josh Huff who had one reception for twelve yards. Barner also added four rushes for fifteen yards. Former players were also scattered on Defense on the afternoon including Taylor Hart, Brandon Bair, Will Keliikipi. Bair had a tackle and an assist in the win. Former Oregon Ducks Walter Thurmond had the exclamation point for the Defense with a deflected interception. The Eagles had the ball for just over twenty-six minutes during the game and were able to put up the numbers.
Once again, the story of the game was clearly Kenjon Barner. His speed and agility, and a new found shiftiness to move away from the Defense and get to the end zone should have quite the impact on the Philadephia Eagles in 2015. As of right now, I see Kenjon Barner making the team and possibly also competing for some time at backup running back in either the third or fourth string spot behind Starter DeMarco Murray.
Philadelphia next heads to Green Bay to take on the Packers in Week Three of the NFL Preseason on Saturday, August 29th. Kickoff is set for 5pm Pacific Time.
