When Chip Kelly was at Oregon, he did one thing particulary well. He won. He did it by putting up a lot of points in a short amount of time. Last night in the NFL Preseason at Lambeau Field against Green Bay it appeared the 2015 Philadelphia Eagles were ready to be up to the task of Kelly’s former Oregon teams. If you blinked, you missed Philadelphia put up twenty-five points in just the first quarter in Green Bay on Saturday night.

Quarterback Sam Bradford got the Start and went a perfect ten for ten for one-hundred twenty one yards and threw for three touchdowns before Mark Sanchez took over in the second quarter. Sanchez had a performance all his own throwing for two touchdowns. Several former Oregon Ducks also had solid performances on a night where Green Bay Quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not play. Philadelphia would win the game 39-26 continuing their run as the team with the highest scoring offense this preseason. Running Back Kenjon Barner continued to push to earn a roster spot for the upcoming season.

Barner had two receptions for fifty nine yards and a seventeen yard return that did not go for a touchdown, Several former members of the Oregon Defense also had solid performances including Taylor Hart with three tackles, Brandon Bair with an assist and Walter Thurmond had an interception. Thurmond has worked his way up the Philadelphia Eagles depth chart and will look to start the season as a Starter in the second spot at Cornerback.

"It was good to see the work we put in during the week pay off tonight. I thought our guys up front did a great job of not only pass protection, but in run blocking as well. It seemed like we were firing on all cylinders tonight, and hopefully it’s something we can continue to do.Quarterback Sam Bradford on Philadelphia’s performance against Green Bay(to NFL.com)"

One player who was expected to play on Saturday night, Kiko Alonso was out with a leg injury according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Alonso suffered a concussion two weeks ago and had just recently returned to practice. Kelly said the injury was not serious or an ACL and Alonso would be fine.

Kenjon Barner has stepped it up in the Preseason in 2015 to earn a roster spot, if nothing else for a return man. He is also getting looks at the Running Back spot and has some yards there, but it is clear open space is his place to shine. He has speed that once he gets going, can turn pretty quickly into a big gain or a touchdown.

Philadelphia wraps up the Preseason next Thursday night visiting the New York Jets for a 7pm Pacific Time kickoff. The regular season begins on September 14th against the Atlanta Falcons on the road on ESPN.
