According to several reports, including ESPN, former Oregon Ducks and current Tennessee Titans Quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a sprained left MCL in the loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The injury likely came when Olivier Vernon came in and hit Mariota low which according to the report is being reviewed. Honetly, it was somewhat a matter of time before an injury to Marcus Mariota. He has not had much protection from the Tennessee Titans Offensive Line. He has been sacked nineteen times this season including seven times against the Cleveland Browns and five times against Miami over the weekend.

The Tennessee Titans host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday and as it stands Mariota will have to show in practice that he can move on his left leg. If not, Zach Mettenberger will get the start on Sunday. The former Oregon Ducks Quarterback did not miss a play in the game against the Dolphins, but did wear a knee brace from the second quarter on which may have limited Mariota slightly. Now, the Atlanta Falcons come to town with a 5-1 record and the 1-4 Titans are running out of time to make a run for the playoffs this season.

A typical recovery from a sprained MCL can be 1-6 weeks. Depending on the athlete. He had a similar injury while he was at Oregon and the recovery time fell along that same timeline. Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans hosts the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in their fourth home game in a row. Kickoff is set for 10am Pacific Time on FOX.
