The Utah Jazz on Wednesday signed former Oregon Ducks Star EJ Singler to a contract, but he won’t be with the team for long according to KSL.com. The signing is more of a loophole to keep him in their system. Singler will be moved to their ‘minor league’ affiliate in Idaho, where he played during the 2013-14 season. Had Utah not signed him he would have gone to into a Draft Pool according to the report and since the Jazz system is familiar with Singler, they wanted him to remain there.
Last season, Singler took his talent overseas and played in Estonia. He averaged seven points and five rebounds per game. He had twenty-two starts and averaged just over seventeen minutes in sixty games last season.
Over the next few days, he will be transferred back to the Idaho Stampede in the D-League. Two seasons ago he averaged over fourteen points per game and over four rebounds in twenty-two games. Singler is expected to be on the roster in time for Idaho’s first game of the season on the road November 13th at the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Singler had a breakout season in his Senior Year with the Oregon Ducks and averaged twelve points and five rebounds per game in his four years as an Oregon Duck from 2009-2013. His brother Kyle is on the roster for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
