The Oregon Ducks have something that they should hold close. While the team has three losses on the season and is out of the National Championship picture this season, the fan base still comes out in full to support their University of Oregon Ducks week in and week out, no matter the outcome they stay, for the most part, till the end of the game. We are not just talking about football. For Basketball, Softball, and Baseball even if the game is not close the fans stay until the end cheering on their team. The same cannot be said for a former powerhouse team that is now in decline, and has been for a while.
The Miami Hurricanes as a football team do not have it together and do not have a clear leader right now. The team is 4-3 on the season and just suffered their worst home loss in their history on Saturday against the Clemson Tigers. It was 42-0 at halftime and no closer in the second half. The final score was 58-0. The Hurricanes were manhandled by the better team from the start. Miami had three turnovers that became Tigers points and put up a grand total of six first downs. Six. They passed for ninety three yards and rushed for fifty three. Running Back Brad Kaaya ran for negative yardage with two possessions for minus eleven yards. Several weeks ago Miami also fell to their biggest in state rival Florida State, but the biggest disappointment, aside from the loss, was the fans. There were NONE. Before halftime they were more impressed with other games on their phones than the one on the field in front of them. It also became quickly apparent that most had better things to do than watch the cluster of a team that was on the field in front of them.
Oregon has some important games coming up, and while they may not get them to the College Football Playoff, they could get them to the Pac-12 Championship. It would be a good stepping point into the 2016 season. At least through it all they will also have a passionate fan base pulling for them along the way regardless of what bowl game they can get to.
The Oregon Ducks are coming off a bye week and head to Arizona to take on Arizona State this Thursday at 7:30pm Pacific Time on ESPN.
