Tennessee Titans Quarterback Marcus Mariota was limited in practice this week and will sit out the game against the Houston Texans. Zach Mettenberger will get his second start of the season and hope for better results than last week, a Week 7 loss at home against Atlanta 10-7. The Titans Backup Quarterback went 22 of 35 with a touchdown and two interceptions and will hope for better results today. The 1-7 Titans lone win this season was on the road against Tampa Bay to start the season and it was a phenomenal day for Marcus Marita, who tied Fran Tarkenton for touchdown passes thrown by a rookie in their first game.
Marcus Mariota was injured against Miami two weeks ago and sprained his MCL. He has been limited on practice the last two weeks and will be out for the second week in a row. The edge in this one, at least points wise, goes to Houston. The Texans are averaging over 20 points per game this season to the Titans 18, plus they have a healthy Arian Foster. Even if Mariota was healthy the advantage would still likely go to the Texans.
Of course, JJ Watt also plays for the Texans and could be in the face of Zach Mettenbeger all day long making it more difficult. The Titans have had struggles on the Offensive Line and it has shown all season, which is not a good sign for a Titans win. If Mettenberger has time to get rid of the ball, they may get their chance to pull out the win, but without Mariota it will be a tougher task. Mettenberger may be more seasoned at this point, but he is 0-7 as a Starter including last week.
