The Oregon Women’s Volleyball team has not had it very easy this season. Following a road trip that saw a loss on the road to the #1 team in the country USC, Oregon rebounded with an upset of #9 UCLA last week. They would look to take that momentum into the final stretch of the season that included four games at home starting with Washington State on Thursday night.
In a game that the Oregon Ducks needed, they did not disappoint. Oregon took care of the Cougars for the nineteenth straight time with a four set win. Frankie Shebbie was a key player in the victory helping Oregon out of a tough match that saw Washington State attempt a third set comeback that would ultimately fall short in the match. Shebbie had 15 kills on the night, four in the third set. Lindsay Vander Weide was back to mid season form with 13 kills and 7 digs against the Cougars. Oregon now faces another test at home with two ranked opponents.
Washington comes into Matthew Knight Arena ranked #2 in the nation on Friday. The Oregon Ducks need to be a game above the .500 mark to be considered for post season play and now have a bit of a cushion. Of course winning out would help them, but taking two of their final three may be enough to get them into the post season.
