The Oregon Men’s Basketball team welcomed in Savannah State on Friday night and quickly showed they were the superior team hitting over 60 percent for the first half in a game where rotation-wise every player on the team scored points. The first half was the better effort as the Ducks allowed the opponent to get back into the game in the second half, but Oregon still won the game 77-49. Oregon doubled up the Tigers heading into the locker room at halftime up 42-24. Chris Boucher had another big game for Oregon.
Boucher has become more a defensive threat with shot blocking, but has also shown he can put the ball in the basket. On Friday he had 17 points, 11 in the second half. He also had seven rebounds. Senior Elgin Cook put in 12 points to go with eight rebounds. Oregon had three players in double figures in the game and once again the bench played a big role. Dwayne Benjamin added 7 Kendall Small had 9 and Roman Sorkin put in 8 points. It was first half domination by the Oregon Ducks that was the storyline.
"In the first half I thought our ball movement was pretty good, and because of that we were able to shoot 60 percent. In the second half our ball movement wasn’t quite as good.Oregon Ducks Head Coach Dana Altman on his team’s performance vs Savannah State"
Oregon led in rebounds with 37 for the game and the 60 percent in the first half allowed the bench to get some important playing time. For the game Oregon still shot at 54 percent. Dwayne Benjamin has proved to be the 6th man for Oregon this season through three games and comes up with big plays when he is asked.
