Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball Tops UC Santa Barbara, Best Start Since 2011

The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team is off to a 3-0 start to the 2015 season after dispatching UC Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoon, 79-51 at Matthew Knight Arena. The story was once again a familiar one for Oregon fans. Senior Jillian Alleyne continued her master class in the double-double netting the 72nd of her career off 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the team. The team shot 57 percent for the game and was consistent throughout and also hit 8 of 16 shots from beyond the arc.
Jacinta Vanderberg and Lexi Peterson both put in 14 points a piece. Liz Brenner added 4 points and hit two free throws in the win. For the game the Oregon Ducks had just three turnovers, which is one of their lowest numbers of the season. It was also Alleyne’s 19th straight double double. Head Coach Kelly Graves has his team off to a 3-0 start, the best start the team has had since 2011. Against UC Santa Barbara the Ducks started with the lead straight out of the gate with 19 points in the first quarter. The team also put up 19 in the 4th Quarter while clamping down on Defense and giving up just 8 points in the final frame. Oregon out rebounded the opposition 40 to 24 for the game.

Up next, the Oregon Ducks welcome Clemson to Matthew Knight Arena for a Tuesday night matchup. The Lady Tigers are 1-3 on the season after falling to Furman 70-49 on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 6pm Pacific Time.
