Quarterback Kyler Murray is set to transfer out of Texas A&M, will he rekindle the connection he had with the Oregon Ducks?

One name that was once mentioned as a Oregon Ducks Recruit last season was dual threat Quarterback Kyler Murray. The former five star recruit committed to Texas A&M in June and spent a season with Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies. It was recently reported by the Houston Press that he is looking to transfer from the Aggies. If he gets his release are the Oregon Ducks are in play for the services of a highly touted recruit? It appears that Mark Helfrich already has his mind set on 2016 with the latest addition to Oregon in Dakota Prukop, who transferred from Montana State and is eligible to play immediately upon enrollment. With Prukop, the Ducks will have five scholarship signal callers on the roster for next season.

In 2017, Jeff Lockie will be gone, as will Prukop. That will leave Travis Jonsen who would have likely been ‘the guy’ this season had it been for Prukop. Murray will likely have to sit out a year wherever he transfers to, and the option to come to Oregon with their spread offense and ability to become a playmaker on the field may be an offer not worth passing up, regardless of missing a season. The timing with the Oregon Ducks would be perfect. Aside from Oregon, the Texas Longhorns may also be in the mix.

Kyler Murray is a name worth watching into the Spring. If he does land with the Oregon Ducks it could be the piece of the puzzle they need to continue their success in the Pac-12 for the next several seasons. He might also give them a shot or two at the College Football Playoff.
