When you hire a top tier Head Coach, good things happen. In the case of the Oregon Ducks, the turnaround has happened in a little over a year as Kelly Graves has the team firing on all cylinders and 10-0 to start the season. 10-0 is a place that former Coach Paul Westhead could only dream of. Of course recruiting and experience play a big part. On Thursday night against Portland State, it all came together.
The stat sheet exploded with six players in double figures as Jillian Alleyne easily added another double double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, her 26th in a row. Freshman Maite Cazorla hit 7 of 8 from the field with 16 points and 12 assists. On the Defensive end she had 7 steals in a 122-59 blowout. Portland State is now 1-9 on the year, the Oregon Ducks have reached 10-0 for the first time in a long time. Overall the team had 11 blocked shots and 22 steals on the night. Oregon shot 59 percent from the floor and the Oregon Ducks bench had an opportunity for some key early season minutes putting up a combined 51 points on their own.
