It was only a matter of time. The injury bug appears to have bitten every team in the National Football League this season and now the Carolina Panthers are among those teams. Running Back Jonathan Stewart has been a key player in the Panthers Offense this season, but has been out with a foot injury suffered three weeks ago.
On Sunday, the Running Game did well, running for more yards than the Falcons, but it was the passing game that made the difference. Matt Ryan showed he was better than Cam Newton throwing for 300 yards and a touchdown. Wide Receiver Julio Jones had close to 200 yards receiving in the win that brought Atlanta over the .500 mark at 8-7.
Newton did cross 3500 passing yards on the season in the loss vs the Atlanta Falcons and now has 33 touchdowns on the season.
Carolina will look to finish the season with a win as they host Tampa Bay and likely Rookie of the Year Jameis Winston on Sunday to close out the regular season. Running Back Jonathan Stewart could return against the Buccaneers this week.
