The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team started off this season better than any Oregon team in recent history. They faced teams that challenged them, but they also faced teams that they ran over with ease. Entering Pac-12 Conference play, on the road appeared to be challenging this past week as Oregon lost two key Conference games against UCLA and USC on the road. On Monday night it was turnovers that amounted to the loss.
Taking on USC at the Galen Center, the Oregon Ducks committed 21 turnovers that ended up being 25 points for USC and despite a halftime lead, Oregon fell to 0-2 in Pac-12 Conference play for their second loss of the season. Jillian Alleyne continued to put up monster numbers and easily net her 82nd career double double with 23 points and 17 rebounds. It was also her 29th straight double double dating back to last season. Lexi Petersen also showed off her shot going 7 for 11 from the floor with 22 points in the loss to the USC Trojans.
The third quarter was where the game changed in favor of the home team as the Oregon Ducks committed 7 turnovers in the final five minutes of the quarter. Before halftime, the Oregon Ducks Defense held USC to 8 points in the 2nd Quarter. Oregon continues their road trip for a Civil War matchup before returning home to Matthew Knight Arena.
