The Oregon Ducks dropped their first Pac-12 Conference game of the season on Sunday on the road against Oregon State, the Beavers held Oregon to under 30 percent shooting in the first half, although a good part of it was inconsistency by Dana Altman’s team falling behind and playing catch up. Oregon State used a 10 point run to start the game followed by a 20-4 run that put the game out of reach. The Ducks faced a packed Gill Arena crowd and were pretty much out of it from the start.
There were not many highlights for the Oregon Ducks against Oregon State in the Civil War worth mentioning, but if you are going to lose a game and still have 17 to play in the Pac-12, I guess the first one may not be so bad.
- Chris Boucher finished the game with 16 points, 7 rebounds and a block to lead Oregon. He also hit two three point shots.
- Oregon did not win the turnover battle giving it up 8 times in the first half, it translated into 11 points for the Beavers
- Oregon State rebounded better turning 10 Offensive rebounds into 11 points for the game.
Oregon will look to stop the bleeding as they welcome the Cal Bears on Wednesday night. Cal enters on a 3 game winning streak and are 2-0 in the Pac-12 at 12-3 on the season. The Conference this season will be more competitive than in years past with teams beating each other up all season long. Oregon Ducks Head Coach Dana Altman will have to have his team ready for a fight tonight at Matthew Knight Arena as the most important court to guard is your home court.
Tyrone Wallace leads Cal with over 15 points and close to 5 assists per game. The Golden Bears are below Oregon in points per game averaging 76, the Ducks are also averaging 76 points per game, but in the free throw battle, the home team has the advantage hitting over 80 percent of their shots, hitting the 90 percent mark on several occasions this season.
