There are games played every season that should be forgotten quickly. The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball played one of those games on Friday night in Corvallis against a bigger and clearly better team that is will be competing not only for the Pac-12 Title and and NCAA Tournament berth, but also a National Title. Oregon State appears to have broken through in Women’s Basketball and have one of the best teams in the country.
Oregon State gave the Oregon Ducks fits all night and held Jillian Alleyne well below her season average snapping a 364 day long double double streak that dated back to last season. Her 29 game streak, a Pac-12 record was also broken. Alleyne had 10 points and 6 rebounds for the game as Kelly Graves watched his team hit just 21 percent on the night and 1 of 18 from beyond the arc. The Beavers picked up 11 points off Oregon turnovers, but it was shooting that won the night for Oregon State.
"Give a lot of credit to Oregon State. They’re a good basketball team, no doubt about it. … You’re not going to beat anybody shooting like that, let alone one of the best teams in the country.Kelly Graves on Oregon’s Shooting vs Oregon State (via GoDucks.com)"
OSU saw three players in double figures including Ruth Hamblin, who saw the Beavers win against Oregon for the 10th straight game. Hamblin had 15 points and 9 rebounds. She hit 7 of 12 from the floor. Oregon falls to 0-3 in the Pac-12 and will look to get back on track hosting Oregon State on Sunday, this time at Matthew Knight Arena.
