Oregon Ducks Baseball Starts 2016 Season Ranked in The Top 15

The Oregon Ducks Baseball team will begin 2016 again looking for wins and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. There is plenty of returning and new talent to fill out the roster for George Horton in his eighth season as Head Coach

With football in the rear view mirror, Oregon Spring Sports are set to begin in another month. The Oregon Ducks Baseball team has several players that have been announced as Preseason All Americans including Matt Krook and Stephen Nagosek. D1Baseball’s Preseason poll has Oregon slotted 14th as the 5th highest Pac-12 team on the list. The Oregon Ducks have the experience and ability to compete for another chance at the post season this year.

Seven starters return for the Oregon Ducks including Starting Pitcher and likely Staff Ace Cole Irvin, who suffered an injury before the start of the 2014 season, missing the year. He returned from Tommy John Surgery last season to help lead the Oregon Ducks back to the NCAA Tournament. Of course, the postseason goal remains the same for the 2016 Oregon Ducks. Irvin, Krook and Matt Petersen will lead the Starting Pitcher charge for George Horton entering the season. While rotations have yet to be officially set, all three will get their innings.

In the batters box, Oregon returns eight players including Phil Craig-St. Louis, Matt Eureste, Nick Catalano, and Mark Karaviotis. Craig St.Louis paced Oregon last season on Offense hitting .296 with 39 RBI’s according to GoDucks.com

The regular season begins for the Oregon Ducks on Friday, February 19th at San Diego. George Horton and the team begin the home schedule on Thursday, February 25th against Illinois State.
