The Oregon Ducks snapped a losing streak entering Pac-12 Conference play with two straight home wins last week against Cal and on Saturday against the Stanford Cardinal. On the season they are 13-3 and 2-1 in the Pac-12, but the season for the Conference of Champions has been one of early upsets left and right and right now a USC team that is looking very much like an early Title Contender.
Oregon built some confidence against the Stanford Cardinal over the weekend. Here are some of the highlights:
- Three players scored in double figures led by Dillon Brooks(15), Tyler Dorsey(12) and Dwayne Benjamin(12)
- Stanford had 12 turnovers, but the Oregon Defense was again effective with 7 blocks and 5 steals.
- As a team the Oregon Ducks had 18 assists to the Cardinal with 12.
Dana Altman and Oregon now hit the road. The first test is against the Utah Utes, who are one of the toughest teams to play in Salt Lake City. They have come a long way from their first season in the Pac-12 when they went 3-15 back in 2011. Of late they have been contenders in the Conference winning 44 of their last 47 on their home court.
The Utes are led by Wooden Award Finalist Jakob Poelti who is averaging over 17 points per game. He is also solid on the Defensive end pulling down close to 10 rebounds per contest. Utah also has a high profile win against 7th ranked Duke from last month which could carry some big post season momentum for Utah in 2015.
